LIAT and Star Support Unions

BARBADOS, Bridgetown, November 9, 2006 - The Executive Management of LIAT (1974) Ltd. will continue discussions with the Workers' Unions across the Region next week. With the development of these discussions, it will be decided in the event of a consolidation of the two leading regional airline carriers, LIAT and Caribbean Star Airlines, whether the new company formed would be unionised.

The two airlines have unanimously conveyed their support for the Regional Labour Movement. Sir Alan Stanford, Chairman of Caribbean Star, said "We fully support the workers' right to be represented." This statement echoes the sentiment expressed by Chief Executive Officer for LIAT, Mark Darby, who expressed that "The unions are considered partners of the airlines."

In a joint statement from the two air carriers, it was stated that "If consolidated, the new airline would be excited to work with the unions regionally. We are pleased to explore all options for working together for the benefits of the employees, in order to better serve the people of the Caribbean."

LIAT and Caribbean Star are the leading Caribbean airlines. Between them they operate 30 aircraft across over 19 destinations comprising in excess of 186 flights per day.
