LIAT APPOINTS NEW CUSTOMER SERVICE DIRECTOR

LIAT has appointed Mrs. Sonya John as its new Director - Customer Service. Her main responsibilities will include coordinating the development and implementation of operational procedures and policies.
Sonya's frontline experience, her tenure in management and her passion for maintaining a customer-oriented culture, focused on exceptional service to the travelling public have been cemented in her more than 17 years of service in the Caribbean aviation industry.
Born in England, of Trinidadian parents, she began her career as a Cabin Crew member of BWIA (Caribbean Airlines Ltd.) in 1989. She left BWIA in 1999 when she migrated to Antigua where she currently resides. In May 2000 she became one of the founding members of Caribbean Star Airlines taking 10 years of frontline experience to her position there as the In flight Services Coordinator. The In Flight team grew impressively under her watch and three years into her tenure she was promoted to Manager In Flight Services. Given the rapid increase of the department she was always determined to ensure that the quality of Caribbean Star's In flight product was an industry benchmark.
Sonya also played a significant role on the team charged with the recertification of Caribbean Star Airlines to meet the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority's (ECCAA) for Category One status.
Her new function will involve collaboration with other key departments such as Flight and Ground Operations, Commercial and Scheduling, as LIAT seeks to streamline, implement and reinforce standards in quality Customer Service. One of Mrs. John's early priorities will be upgrading the Customer Service Manual to ensure its relevance and applicability to the market. Another target will be working with In Flight crew to ensure that LIAT offers optimum service to its valued passengers.
